Reiki Lessons

Tuesday, July 31st, 2007

By Eric Hartwell Reiki is an art that has to be learnt from an experienced Master. Reiki has come a long way from its traditional Japanese roots and with time and travels to foreign shores has changed and merged with other spiritual practices and therapies to become more versatile and contemporary. The original tradition was started by Dr. Usui Mikao and thus sometimes you may also hear Reiki called as Usui Reiki Ryoho, Reiki Ryoho or even Reiho in short. Traditionally Reiki has three degrees or levels but you can find some schools who teach more than 3 even going up to seven or more. Below is a short description of the four different levels of Reiki and the lessons contained in each of these levels. However this is format that may change for different schools and you may come across different teachings under different Reiki Masters, each of whom teach lessons according to their own tradition and expertise. First Degree Reiki (Level 1): The beginning level of Reiki generally deals with the healing of the self. This may include lessons for initiation for the First Degree, a briefing of the history and mythos of Reiki, the various traditions and different Reiki associations worldwide. All this is coupled with learning to practically use Reiki like the hand positions and their usage, the benefits and different correspondences of Reiki and using this art to heal friends, family and every living creature like pets and plants and charging edibles with Reiki energy. All the spiritual significance and their subsequent effects on healing the mind, body and soul are covered in this degree. Second Degree Reiki (Level 2): After having completed the First Degree successfully you can opt for the more advanced Second Degree. The key factor about the Second Degree is the imparting of the sacred Reiki symbols which were traditionally kept secret from initiates until they reached the Second Level. These symbols are discussed in depth and methods to use them in meditations and for general practice and focusing energy are taught. Distance healing and healing more advanced disorders are also taught at this level. Third Degree Reiki (Level 3): This is a level for Personal Mastery that is yet more advanced and for people striving for inner growth and intuitive development and adept in channeling Universal Spiritual Reiki Energy. Complex energy working techniques are taught at the Third Level including working with chakras and performing psychic surgeries to remove blockages and spiritual slime from the aura. Building crystal grids to continuously transmit Reiki energy in order to bring peace, harmony and light in this world and advanced procedures for distance healing. Master Level Reiki For those who wish to teach Reiki. However applying for a Master Level requires a very high level of Personal Mastery where the person must be a regular practitioner of Reiki and extreme proficiency in the techniques of the Third Level. Notes for teaching are also given at this stage and open the portal to channeling greater amounts of Reiki energy, attunement and also activating, directing and balancing energy. This is not a mere level but a way of life and is a privileged level that is available only by interview of the candidate. This level is a huge step up regarding wisdom and inner transformation and the way of the ascetic. However many schools may break up this level and the others too to better inculcate some of the lessons. Shop Online For What You Want

Monday, July 30th, 2007

By Danny Wright Modern lifestyles leave everyone with fewer hours to accomplish more work. Many people find it difficult to manage home, office and kids along with shopping and cooking. Though not much can be done about some work, with the help of the internet, it is possible to save time and achieve more in a day if you shop online for what you want. The internet has numerous online stores offering practically everything and anything that a homemaker needs. It is possible to buy groceries, vegetables, fruits, meat, dairy products, medical supplies, gifts, clothing; in fact, anything that you can think of is available on the internet. When you shop online for what you want, there is no need of wasting time and more money looking for the various products that you need. You have to just visit few sites like www.merchantland.com where you will find varieties of products from lower range to upper range and can get of your selection and at affordable price. It is advisable to match up cost and products of different sites before purchasing as price list varies of each and every site. But be sure that you get quality product before compromise with price range. Different sites may have different rates for different products. When buying from an online store, you find that most of the rates are cheaper then traditional stores as these products are offered retail prices. However most sites have shipping charges that will have to be borne by you. So check out on this point before placing an order. It is better to place an order for the product you need from an online store that is found near your locality as the shipping charges will be lower here. Moreover, if the store is located near you, the product will not take long to reach you. If you need a product to reach you within a stipulated date, you could also ask for this provision when you shop online for what you want. There are many online shopping directories that you can refer to find out which online store offers the product that you need. It is always better to purchase product through credit card as if any problem occurs then there will be proof that you have purchased some product from site where as if you take it in cash then it would not be possible for canceling payment nor you will have any kind of proof. When you go from credit card if you dont wish to purchase then you can cancel out your payment.Check on the return policy of the site before you do your shopping. There are some sites like www.merchantland.com that permits exchanges on faulty products. Sometimes the product which you buy may not be of the right size or have some fault in it. In such situations, you will have to return the product. So confirm that the site entertains the return of products. So it can be seen that with the right research, it is rather safe, cheap and convenient to shop online for what you want. 6 Simple Steps To LifeLong Weight Loss

Sunday, July 29th, 2007

By Dianne Villano If You are sick of losing the same weight over and over, and feeling like a failure because your last “diet” didn’t work, try these tips to not only lose weight, but lose it for good. I have watched hundreds of clients over the years and almost without exception, those that lose their weight once and for all have these six basic habits as a part of their lives. 1. Keep a food diary For at least five days and up to a week, keep a pen and paper handy and write down everything you eat, how much, where and when you ate it and who you ate with. try to write it down as you eat it. Most people find that when they try to remember everything at the end of the day, they leave something out. I have also had clients tell me that they didn’t eat something because they knew they were going to have to write it down. Be completely honest with yourself. You dont need to show anyone the results, but most will be very surprised by them. Particular environments and people can often trigger certain eating behaviors that are readily apparent when you use a food log. free fitness journal/food log. 2. Dont eat too little Very low calorie diets will, in the short term, help you lose weight but theyre extremely difficult to maintain. Youll gradually become tired and irritable, lack the energy to exercise, and people wont want to eat with you because the long list of taboo foods renders restaurant menus, and even family meals at home, unsuitable for your overly strict diet. For a more detailed description of the effects of low calorie diets click here. 3. Neither feast nor fast - They weren’t kidding when they said “breakfast is the most important meal of the day.” Studies show that those who skip the first meal, end up eating more total calories throughout the day and tend to make less healthy choices. Try to eat at least 3 meals a day. Optimally you should spread your calories throughout 6 small meals per day. This will keep your metabolism bustling and your blood sugar level even to help avoid binging. 4. Freshness Counts - The packaging and processing generally found in “convenience” foods generally reduce the nutrient values of foods and substantially raise the caloric content. The American Dietetic Association recommends at least 3 - 5 servings from the fruit and vegetable group per day. no time to prepare “home made meals? Try preparing in bulk on the week ends to make healthy choices readily available. Cut up a large bowl of fresh fruit, (1c = 1 serving) or pre make a large bowl of salad or cut up veggies. I usually prepare a weeks worth of chicken or pork so i can quickly re heat it and add it to any recipe. 5. Hydrate your way to quicker weight loss Drink water ahead of coffee, tea, or soft drinks. Including the hidden water we consume in food, we need 64 oz. per day. More is recommended to counteract the dehydration caused by caffeinated beverages and intense exercise or excessive heat. How much do we need to drink? In general you should be drinking enough water per day so that your urine is nearly clear. 6. Eat less, exercise more The great thing about food diaries is they show you much where you can cut the number of “extra” (calories). Many people eat out of habit when they are not even hungry. you may also need to make dietary changes if you begin or increase the intensity of a fitness program. I know, you are going to say, “I don’t have time because …(insert your favorite excuse here) Ask yourself this…”how much more energy will I have when I am not carrying around this extra _____ pounds? How many more things will I enjoy and feel god while doing when I am in a fit healthy body? Is it worth a few minutes a day to incorporate these simple habits into your day? Marketing a Craft Product

Thursday, July 26th, 2007

By Paul Duxbury There are many ways to market your soaps and homemade bath products. I have found that giving free samples is one of the best methods for getting new customers for my soaps. You can cut 16 samples from one basic 4 oz. bar of soap by cutting the bar into 8 pieces, then cutting those pieces in half. Next, place a piece of the soap in a small craft bag (you can get these at Stores in the Crafts section) and label it with your business information using regular Avery mailing labels. To distribute your samples, place them in attractive baskets and visit a few non-competing stores to see if they will let you leave your baskets on their counters. You can also staple these to your business cards, and hand them out as you normally would a business card. Yet another method that works better than the above two would be to make what are called fish bowls and leave these at area businesses. To make a fish bowl, first print out some cards for customers information such as name, address and phone number. Next, purchase a few containers that are clear, and that has a secure lid on them, that are about the size of a regular fish bowl. Some people actually use fish bowls, but I have found this causes problems because the fish bowls break easily, and cannot be closed to prevent theft of your customers information. Now take the lid of your container, and cut a slot that is big enough for your slips of paper that you printed off earlier to slip into when they are folded in half. Secure your lid onto your container with tape and then cover the tape with attractive ribbon. Next, make a sign stating that anyone that enters your drawing for a free whatever will receive a free soap sample in the mail. The whatever can be a gift certificate from the store that lets you place your fish bowls on their counters (this helps promote the store, thus making the store owner more agreeable to letting you use their counter space), or it can be a few bars of soap from your inventory or both Next, locate stores that do not mind sharing some of their counter space with you. This is where you’ll place your fish bowls. Although this method costs a bit more because you are offering a prize, and because you will need to mail your samples, it also produces better results than by just handing out samples. You will get potential customers addresses and phone numbers, when you mail your sample you can also include information about your products, and you can also send them a follow up mailing asking for their input on how well they liked your sample. This information can be very valuable towards the growth of your business. You can also package samples of your bath salts and scrubs in the small zip lock bags as well, and use these instead if you do not make soap. Marketing Smarter To Earn More

Tuesday, July 17th, 2007

By Charlie Cook An accountant once told me that he never met anyone who didn’t want to make 30% more money. Whether you want a better lifestyle or to take more vacations, buy a fancy car, spend more time with your family, send your children to college or to give it all away, you could always use more money. If you sell services, your primary limitations on earnings are your costs and the number of hours in a week. Most independent professionals are already working well over 40 hours a week and can’t work longer hours to increase earnings. Your goal should be to find ways to work less and increase your earnings. How can you market smarter and make more money? DON’T DISCOUNT YOUR SERVICES Have you ever heard of a lawyer or carpenter offering a 20% discount on their hourly or daily rate? Every time you offer a discount or reduce your regular rates, you are sending a message to prospects that your services really aren’t worth what you’re asking. Once your clients know that your prices are discounted or negotiable, you will always be fighting a battle to be the paid full price for your work. Never offer discounts; your clients will assume that they are expected to pay the asking price for your services. OVERCOME OBJECTIONS TO PRICE Prospects invariably want to know your pricing before they understand the benefits your products and services provide. Quoting prices is meaningless until prospects can put the cost into the context of the results they can expect. When prospects show concern about your pricing, it’s a good sign. It indicates their interest in buying your services and a need to understand the value you provide. You could list all the benefits of your services but if you really want to make the sale, it’s far more effective to let prospects sell themselves. A client’s perception of value isn’t based on how much they pay, but on whether their expectations will be met and the benefit they will receive. Don’t get stuck on the dollars you charge per hour. Instead help prospects define the dollar benefit of your services. When prospects query you on price, respond by asking questions to help them identify for themselves the problem they want solved, the cost of the problem, the solution they need, and how you can help them. Prospects buy when they think their expectations will be met. Let them define their expectations and they’ll be far more likely to sell themselves when you finally explain your pricing at the end of the conversation. POSITION YOURSELF AS AN EXPERT Differentiate yourself from your competition by using your articles to regularly provide insight and ideas to your prospects and clients so they come to view you as an expert in your field. Use expert positioning and consider raising your prices. When Arnold Schwarzenegger first arrived in the U.S. he had trouble getting work as a stonemason with his funny accent, despite charging less than his competitors. A friend suggested he set his prices above the competition and bill himself and his partner as exclusive European masons. His business took off and look where he is now! AVOID HOURLY FEES Unless you sell hour-long massages, charging by the hour is the best way to limit your earning potential. When you charge by the hour you lose money if you work efficiently or if you get a great idea right away. Prospects can always negotiate with you on the number of hours they want, undermining your ability to put in the time needed to meet their expectations. Prospects want results. Help them clarify the results they want and then set a project fee for accomplishing those results. Make sure your contract or letter of agreement allows you to adjust your price if the project changes mid-stream. USE VALUE BASED PRICING You can pay $30 or over $5,000 a night for a motel or hotel room. Both provide a roof over your head, a bed and your own bathroom, so why do some people pay over 150 times more for one than the other? People buy based on their perception of the value provided. If they understand the value that your service or product provides, they may be willing to pay much, much more than you are currently charging. Look at the results you provide for clients and reassess your pricing. LEVERAGE YOUR TIME AND MONEY Like most service professionals you have limited time and money to spend on marketing. Much of your time is spent delivering services. Is your marketing helping you earn more? Do prospects understand the unique value you provide? If not, take a look at the way you are positioning your firm and adjust it to clarify your value to clients. Are you making what you could be? If you apply even one or two of the above strategies, you’ll be making more money than you are now without working any harder. You’ll probably still wish you had 30% more. 2003 In Mind Communications, LLC. All rights reserved. Save Money By Making Your Own ID Badges - Tips And Tricks

Monday, July 16th, 2007

By John Morris ID Badges are used anywhere these days. They are used in the hospital as medical cards that provide discounts and benefits. ID badges are a standard operating procedure in schools, companies and libraries. ID badges help to ensure security and maintain organization. Of course, these badges are also used for personal use. You could use them as souvenir for a birthday celebration, you could make use of badges for small, private groups and clubs, for a small production like the school play, or just for fun. 1. Materials There are many available kinds of paper to choose from in making your custom badges. The shape of the ID would depend on your preference if it would be vertical or horizontal. The materials of the badge would depend on the design and how authentic you want the badge to look, if you are attempting to replicate a specific look. - Laminated badge - Dimension is 2 1/8 x 3 - Sticker badge - Can be purchased on bookstores - Premium quality specialty paper - satin cloth - and card board - Transparent plastic cards 2. Design The design of your custom badges would depend on what the badge is for. If it the badge is going to be used in a formal occasion or organization, present the design with a sophisticated style. The color is your choice. Ask yourself or the members of your organization what information is to be placed on the custom badges. The position of the information is also important because this would serve as identification of the person bearing it. The choices of the card could contain an organization or company logo and name, student or employee number, signature of the bearer for verification purposes, contact numbers, expiry date of the card, and control numbers. It is up to you where you would place the information. Make sure that you provide a space for the picture and signature if you require this information. 3. Scanning It is important for you to obtain all the data you need in completing your custom badge for you to scan it into your computer. All the images should be formatted in jpg for best pixel imagery. The standard size of picture on the identification badge is 1×1 or nothing smaller than a mail stamp. If you plan the custom badges to contain the signatures of the bearer, make sure to collect them on a piece of paper at least standard letter size. After obtaining the signatures, scan it into your computer and save it as a file type that retains the detail of the signature, such as a .jpg or better. 4. Preparation Open software that allows you to edit your images (eg. Adobe Photoshop). You could adjust the shade of the picture if it does not match your design. - Set up the dimensions of the canvas to those desired - Unlock the background layer and fill it with white or your desired background image - Cut the picture from the file and paste it in a new layer above the background - Resize as necessary, and position where desired - Create text areas for all of the text required, using a desired font - Print on high quality paper 5. Laminating After printing the card, make sure to dry it for 20 minutes. If it the ink has dried, it is now safe to laminate it with a plastic cover. Make sure to measure the card and the cover before starting lamination. The lamination will require at least an inch of space. Investigation Of DUI Cases - Give Examples Of Non-Standardized FST’s

Saturday, July 14th, 2007

By Darren Kavinoky How to be given, what clues, what they mean. Law enforcement agencies employ a number of different field sobriety tests to determine enough probable cause to make an arrest for drunk driving. The National Highway Traffic and Safety Administration (NHTSA) has conducted studies which have determined that some tests are accurate indicators, to a degree, of a blood alcohol content (BAC) above .10%. However, law enforcement agencies often use non-scientific tests, or non-standardized field sobriety tests, to determine intoxication. Some of these non-standardized test include: Alphabet Coin Test Hand Clap Finger to Nose Finger Count Rhomberg Balance Because these tests lack standardization, they are designed for failure, not fairness. It is the officers own interpretation of the subjects performance which determines failure. When police officers are questioned during cross-examination, they are unable cite any studies or scientific research which validates these testing methods or their scoring systems. Some of the states do not allow non-NHTSA certified FSTs to be used as evidence of intoxication. However, California does allow these tests into evidence. A trained, experienced criminal defense attorney may attack the weight given the evidence, in light of the lack of scientific backing and reliability.
